According to the Census of India report of 2001, the total population of (PWDs) soars as high as 2.19 crores or 2.13% of the total population. A Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment reports highlights the issues faced by this population in finding employment, which range from lack of awareness to limited or no access to education. At National NGO we have shouldered the task of providing the means to an end; social inclusion and employability. Most PWDs know little about the technical and other aids or methods they could use at the workplace to carry out a wide range of tasks and responsibilities. National NGO trains and counsels persons with disability and prepares them to join the mainstream workforce as confident individuals. Organizations in the private and public sector, barring a few, are unaware that persons with disability too possess the talent and commitment to be part of a productive workforce. There is also little awareness about the fact that the disabled can work efficiently in a variety of functions with the help of simple technology and other assistive aids. We at National NGO work with various public and private sector organizations in sensitizing them towards utilizing PWDs as a productive asset. As a team our biggest collective vision is to oust both sympathy and apathy towards the disabled.
